The Cut Outs

The Cut Outs

The Cut Outs

The cut outs began as a response to an art show titled "Have a Seat". My wife Lynn suggested Vincent Van Gogh's chair from his "Bedroom at Arles" as a vehicle, which I did as a cut out. The subsequent cut outs were the result of circuitous inquiries into art history, personal history and popular culture.

The books and magazine cut outs are my homage to the great illustrators from the golden age of illustrations.

The cut outs are hand cut from quarter inch maple plywood,

individually painted with acrylics and finished with a protective coating.
